I recently just purchased the PS4 for a few reasons:

• My friends that I game with also have/just bought PS4s
• The exclusives. I can finally play the PlayStation games I've had to hear everything about
• I had an xbox360 previously, but I never thought it was worth it to upgrade
• The $199.99USD sale was more than enough to make it worth it imo

Just also bought a PS4.

Use to have an Xbox One, every game on Xbox I preferred on PC so never liked the Xbox, and never played it. The quality of every game I played on Xbox One was incredibly poor as far as I remember too but that could also have been the TV I had for it.

Whereas, PS4 on the other hand has a much larger variety of exclusive games not on PC which are of 4k quality and really great HDR depending on your TV display (so I have heard (for the pro that is, but most say they can't tell a difference with the reg.), will update when I get my PS4). Most has been said that PS4 runs at 1080p whereas Xbox One goes at 720p so there’s that to take into account too. All in all, if you're a PC gamer, exclusives are the only reason to buy a console. Simple said than that; otherwise, do you have friends who play console & want to play with them? Get the console they have.

tl;dr
xbox > halo exclusive
ps4 > god of war, horizon zero dawn, one day, spiderman, shadow of the colossus, all quantic dreams; in other words, better exclusives

Build you PC for better display, go for console only for the exclusives.

I prefer Xbox myself. I own all 3 major systems and have my pc. Which system are most of your friends on? That should narrow it down if you don't have a preference

I stand with Goop on this one. I have all three main console systems and I prefer Xbox. PS4 has some good exclusives, same for the Switch, but my crowd is on Xbox/PC so I don't really invest in the PS4 or Switch that much. In terms of power, the Xbox One X is the most powerful console on the market. The exclusives on the Xbox are sorta limited, but I think as long as you are able to enjoy the time by yourself and with others on whatever console you choose, you will have a good time. Be sure to research all of the consoles and see which one you like the best.

choose the one your friends are on. Exclusives dont matter if you are just sitting alone playing them with no one to talk to or play with on that console. I have an xbox but if my friends were on ps4 id have one too. I had a friend who sold his xbox to get a ps4 because he wanted all the exclusives but he ended up selling it because he got lonely.
