No point, just more cluttering of channels. "Announcements" can be anything, including a new event, a news article, or even server updates. Hell, all companies "announce" when their games have special deals or go on sale. I'd like to also point-out the lack of usage of the announcement channels if we only use it for homepage announcements. It will look like a dusty spider cobweb. Maybe when we have more things to put in the announcements channel, we can create a separate channel for deals. But for now, nah.
