honestly, i think people just overthink the rule....
for as far as i know this rule means: "don't over play your role" u got your role, wich means dont know where vents are but everybody knows them, so once a T uses them u know there is a vent, no? also, shouldn't guards of a jail know theire own jail better then a T? xD might just be me or here in belgium but im pretty damn sure CT's should know the jail/vents better then a T lol like,i don't even get why people say "he is breaking the metagming rule because he went to armoury when i used a vent"
honestly....a T used vent, wich means that ct's are going to look for u. so why shouldn't he be in armoury looking for u? it's just a group of people misusing this rule so that they would have a great advantage when rebeling since "the ct's shouldnt know where we are".
a clarification of the rule and what it stands for in a topic would probably eliminate all the misuse and misunderstanding.

This has been my thoughts since day 1 people have been saying "no metagaming." Everyone seems to think every CT should pretend it's their first day on the job and they don't know their own prison.
If CT's had prior knowledge of T's in certain cells having guns or digging their way out (secrets) why wouldn't they just kill them on the spot? They are secrets for the T's initial knowledge only because they made them over time to plan an escape, to be used at the opportune moment. It's the exact same reason why it's not allowed that CT's watch secrets or block them.

ok...i only got 1 problem here:
ther is a HUGE difference between a small pistol that a T has hidden in his cell and a complete vending system that "T's have made for theire escape" like, a gun can be hidden but the vents are definetly knowledge the CT's have at the start of rounds lol.

There is a difference between watching/camping a secret and looking for a missing T with knowledge of the map. If a T is missing and you have the knowledge to look for evidence that points to where a T could be, why are we limiting that?
We aren't role-playing an IRL prison, we're playing a video game with some fun rules to make it (somewhat) submersive. If you make the choice to make you KOS and then bitch when you die, that's more than likely your fault. It's the other team's job to kill you when you do that shit.
From what I gather, the metagaming part is to prevent me from using some tool that shows me that terrorist A is rebelling, since he's in blah vent. That's pretty evident to me since it's clumped together with no hacking, scripts, exploits, etc.
Ultimately, it's fairly useless and redundant, since the only thing that it might protect against is dead guard A telling living guard B that a prisoner is in a vent, or that some prisoner looked away while that living guard didn't notice, and then that living guard acting upon it. And, well, that's already covered by the anti-ghosting rule.
All this stuff about not knowing the map when you play as CT is absolute nonsense. You don't walk into a prison as a CO without at least having learned some of the basics of the prison, including high security areas and areas that need to be checked. In JB, on a game mind you, I don't see why a CT can't know about the map before playing. I certainly know about the entirety of the maps I play on, since it came with years of experience on playing those maps. If you're going by RP standards, then sure, we probably wouldn't know about where a teleporter takes someone, or that there's an openable window on a wall. However, this isn't RP, and even if it was, do you really think you'd see a magical teleporting vending machine in a real prison?
It's people like you that are to blame for JB being so complicated these days. Quit trying to overthink every single rule and just enjoy the game. If you can't do that, play elsewhere. Nobody's forcing you to play JB here.

In essence (and someone correct me if I'm wrong), the rule is meant to help protect Ts from proactive guards who will knowingly sit at the end of a teleport when they have no knowledge that the T is headed there.
To prevent: CT sitting in kitchen until a Terrorist jumps in Vending machine What people bend it to mean: CT can't go to kitchen AFTER they see a T jump in vending machine because they "shouldn't know" a T could go there.

exactly what he says.... people try to use it to have an easy rebel once they used a tp/vent and get mad over getting killed once the ct finds them. pretty pathetic if u ask me, but it is a big issue because the few people that cry about it ruin the entire rule so that others get it wrong aswell

I agree to some extent of this though I find it if CTs shouldn't know that there is a secret there until they see a T uses it, should they really know where it leads (unless they use that same secret)? But they can also still enter armory to search for rebelling Ts (such as on razor, any CT knows that there is still a way in armory, just a longer route by taking the catwalk that leads into armory)
