Jesse Cliffe is reported by local Seattle news has been arrested this week, due to Exploitation of a child. Valve has released cliffe from the company, as an investigation is taking place.

While it's not clear as to why he has been arrested according to KIRO7 (Seattle News), prosecutors say it's most likely "child porn".

Cliffe co-created the original Counter-Strike, with Minh Le, while Cliffe was attending Virginia Tech. Cliffe later joined Valve, where he would begin work
on level design for Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2.

Cliffe allegedly met a girl on an adult meet-up website which describes itself as the “The #1 Sugar Daddy Dating Site in the World”. Cliffe was then in contact with the girl numerous times online.
and, the girl, who is now 16 years of age, says that she had met with Cliffe on three separate occasions, and was paid $300 per one hour of the time she was with him.

16 years old is not a woman. They are both guilty here from my point of view, and shame on anyone downplaying the fact that this girl was essentially baiting old pervs for money.


Apparently they had been meeting up, consensually, and having sex. She had a problem with him filming it though without her permission. She "decided against it as to not upset him in addition to the fact that he could not be certain that he was aware of her true age of 16 years," she told investigators.

So basically:
16 year old girl poses as a legal adult online to attract rich old men, and sells herself for money. When the prostitution is filmed without her consent she reveals that she is actually 16 and gets the guy arrested for making child porn and extorting a child

Edit: Just found out that in that state 16 is the age of consent, that's an important fact as well.

Love how so many people when they read the first articles jumped to conclusions and assumed this guy was forcing children to pose nude or something.

Prostitutes cannot consent, ever. Especially underaged prostitutes.

Also, not to age discriminate or anything, but I can talk to someone for 2 minutes and know if they're 16 years old or 18 years old. Sure, there are mature kids and immature adults, but generally you just know. This dude is older than me and should know better if he's talking to a kid or not.

Dude was jailbaited. He was looking for sex and wanted to pay for it if he had to, not his fault people can lie about age. Don't lie and tell me you can tell someone's exact age/whether they are a minor from a 2 minute conversation. Sure, he could've asked for ID to try and validate age. But he was already illegally doing the sex. Why would he jump through extra hoops if he believed her to be of age?
He got in trouble because he pushed his boundaries in an illegal deal, then got slammed with any charge they could. He fucked up.

I'm not defending his actions, just saying that manipulation goes both ways.
