If you think a nation wide gun sweep is possible in America, you have a lot of stuff to learn. American citizens having guns is literally the only thing stopping the government from becoming authoritarian/totalitarian.

I don't think you understand how totalitarian governments form. In order for a government to become tyrannical, citizens have to have zero power. If you take away all guns from a country, citizens will have zero power. The American government is not all voted in as you would like to believe, there are several agencies and bureaucracies that have nothing to do with any democratic processes. I think it is a very bad mistake to put such blind faith into these institutions that are completely unaffected by the public opinion.

The founding fathers put the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights SPECIFICALLY so that the government would never become tyrannical. There's a reason that all citizens are given the right to form militias.

Changing the 2nd Amendment will do absolutely nothing. I think you keep glancing over the figure that over 300 MILLION guns are in circulation among legal gun owners in America. Zero chance that they will all be taken, it is a fundamental right of the country to have guns and that will never change.
