Not sure if there has been a topic about this previously but the voice quality in CSS Minigames is horrible and I can barely make out what anyone is saying. Considering that voice chat isn't too demanding on the internet these days this should probably be fixed? Hoping it's not just my issue as I haven't had problems in other servers.

Just tested the quality right now... everything seems normal to me. It must be a client side issue. I suggest validating your game files. But I'm not bery smort pardner :)

It was just a bit confusing because my voice chat works fine in the other servers just Minigames takes me down to horrible quality.

The voice codec will perhaps need to be updated, if not it will be a client-side issue. Is there any issues with your headset at all?

I'm assuming it is something to do after that CSS update a while back. I recall it did the same thing to JB but Doldoldoldol or Dinoh fixed 'er up.

No that one was actually good tho I liked it, everyone complained about it because it was CHANGE! No one lines change.....

Okay so I found out the issue. I went into a private server with a friend and went over all the audio codecs (only three) to see which one the minigames server was using that sounded so bad. The minigames server is using "sv_voicecodec vaudio_speex" which is the lowest quality. It should be using the CELT codec which is the codec that CSGO and TF2 switched to which was applied to all Source games in June. Solution is to put "sv_voicecodec vaudio_celt" into the autoexec.cfg or just putting in the command and changing maps. Not sure if any server manager or anyone who can do anything will see this but yeah would be preferable.

TL;DR

Codec is wrong, use "sv_voicecodec vaudio_celt"

That's such an annoying and classic Valve issue
