This was a question I have always wondered myself, and I want to see what you guys think. This is not a Staff post, but more of a curious research project. I want to ask if you guys think people who bring some helpful points on Submit a Ban, Protest a Ban, etc. should receive a ban from the forums. This obviously does not include the usual shit posts that people put on the threads. So just vote on what you think and maybe ill bring this to the Staff+ to take a look at.

I feel as if every bit of help is appreciated and we need to cut down on being too harsh on people whose full intention is just to help. So I would say no people should not be banned. What do you think?

I voted Yes. But I have a twist to some things. Here is my reason why:

I believe that the current rule states:

- Only post a reply on these topics if (either or):

- You are directly involved and have evidence or you are directly involved and an objective statement to add.
- You are asked for a reply by an involved admin or a Staff+ member.

To break this down, I believe that no user should be involved within a complaint that had nothing to do in their part. I understand that giving useful information is great but there is no point when you are bringing in users that were apart of it.

In my part, I think that if we did not ban users for giving information that they weren't apart of, it would most likely be opinions instead of facts. The scenarios could possibly turn into a debate on "Why this person should be punished or not?". By giving facts, the most the users can do that weren't apart of a situation would probably give information from the Rules and Source Bans, (If they have an account) but that isn't much.

Including the whole debate issue on "Why this person should be punished or not?". There is a high chance of people starting arguments because of their opinion and could possibly spark hatred towards each other when not necessary.

I voted yes, however I would definitely vote no if these forum topic included that there would be a set of rules implemented so that you must follow a simple form such as this:

Are you against/with the defendant?

What is your Reason?

Also, I think that it would be best that user that isn't involved should not reply over another users info such as " I think that this is completely wrong and here is why..." I think that it should be left for the staff to read and decide what is best. After all, Staff are like the Judges in a court case. I still believe that this shouldn't be implemented but if it's going to happen, then I think that these things should be in place.

At the mean time I believe that this is unnecessary unless extra rules are being placed in to help support this idea.

I really don't think you layed this post out right. There are other things that we should be looking into more than this. Not to mention there are multiple situations that we could go back and forth on. If a person wasn't there then they shouldn't say anything on the report. The reports obviously should only involve the main people who were involved and active at the time of the situation. Others commenting aren't need and just add more unnecessary info. Like said I feel like there are other things more important that we should be discussing than this.

Unless you are adding information about the ban which is useful, then why would you post. Shouldn't be any exceptions even for people who think they're so good and cool by "helping". Even for those mundane posts about posting in the right section. Basically taking one of the few jobs staff have from them.

Even though the rules are there for a reason, and the Staff+ should handled, but we can't stop people from helping others out. It's a good thing, not a bad thing and we shouldn't be punished for giving the Staff+ a relaxation for once.

I get it, theres a rule that states you cant comment on reports that isnt directly linked to you, otherwise you'll be forum banned, but is it going to do much harm to give them a directional message? Like if someone uses an incorrect format, are we going to post, give them a directional message, or are we just going to leave it for the staff+ to handle, which could be like later on in the day, and if one of us just simply commented and asking them to use the correct format, and post a new unban request or ban request or whatever, and only what staff+ then need to do is lock that thread, simpler than commenting.

I am fine with the current system. It's the staffs job to handle these situations and it prevents unnecessary arguments between those involved with the situation and third parties that might not know the whole situation.

The shit show when we open if for posting will be horrible.
