Lol speaking of aimbots, a while back we had a member named Matt. I thought he was hacking, sent in a demo, savage said "nah." Turns out he was hacking and banned from everything... #sumtimdamembasarrcorrect
Well, it's better to not ban someone for hacking than to ban someone for not hacking.
In the end it is what VAC is for.
I guess, but aren't there aimbots that valve can't find? It's only like exes and dlls I thought.
From what I understand, VAC can't find all hacks, but that's what VAC is updated for, it's given the new hacks to search for, as well as the old. The knowledgeable hacker will often update his hacks whenever he can because if he doesn't, odds are he will be caught by a new VAC update.
VAC has to be picky because of the amount of custom and user-made content they allow us to run due to the Source engine.
That and with finding hacks, its just a matter of watching someone long enough to be sure. I've caught maybe 3 wallhackers on JB, and I watched each of them for almost an entire day before I really made my decision. Banning for hacks is a cautious thing.
