Recently, I have been witness to many rules being broken by members, and general acts of conduct being ignored. While these members have been reprimanded for their actions, I have noticed many repeat offenders and I have been wondering, "where is the line drawn?" This mainly focuses on the way members have been treating each other because that is what I have seen the most, but more recently I have noticed an increase in admin complaints regarding abuse of power so I would like to include these as examples as well.

I understand that a clan is about having fun and enjoying games with friends; however, it seems that many people are initiating fights with other members they may disagree with. This is the internet where we connect with others from across the globe, so it is inevitable that people will have different ways of dealing with others, so we should take into consideration the differences in values, customs, and traditions other people may have before overreacting to something someone says or does. All I am asking is for people to tread carefully in regards to online interaction with other people, because they have just as much of a right to their beliefs as you do. If you genuinely dislike another member, fine, leave it at that. Don't harass or make that member feel unwelcome because of your personal feelings towards them. There are over 200 members in this clan and just because you might dislike a person doesn't mean that the whole clan dislikes that person. Try to maintain a level of respect for the people you may not get along with, or just avoid them if that is too difficult, but it is not their obligation to leave the clan because you can't along.

Next is the admin abuse. Now I use this as a recent example as to the disregard for the clan rules and policies, so it does not mean that this is the only issue. I don't know how many times it needs to be repeated, but for the sake of those who don't understand, admin is a privilege and not a right. When you are given this, you are expected to uphold the rules of the clan within the servers and to ensure the fun of the players that play in those servers. You represent the whole of the clan as an admin, and not only you, but all of EgN is judged by those who witness your use of powers.

While these issues may exist, my point in this topic is not of them specifically, but rather the repeat of these offenses and the limit in which these offenses may continue before further action is needed. I have seen members who have constantly ignored the rules or regulations of the clan, even after prior discipline has been given for these offenses, and I feel as though these methods are having an opposite effect on the clan. It shows other members that as long as they avoid any serious offenses, they can repeat minor ones and only expect an equivalent to the cliche slap on the wrist approach. I feel that a line needs to be drawn as to the amount of same-type offenses that can be made before a more strict form of punishment is initiated. I refer to the recent admin abuse to further explain this: If an admin abuses their power once, has been talked to by a higher-up, and refrains from abusing their power afterwards, then that is fine; however, if the member ignores the warnings given, then a more strict method should be implemented; the punishment should escalate alongside the number of repeated offenses. This should be done with all issues that involve a member ignoring clan rules and/or policies, and if done correctly this should hopefully minimize the number of offenses being made for the lack of consequences or members following the footsteps of other members who successfully evaded punishment. I also believe that the rules and guidelines should be more easily accessible for members to see so that we can avoid problems that are the cause of the member's inability to find the rules in the first place. In conjunction with my previous statement, I also believe that, to avoid confusion, any new rules made should be implemented at the monthly meeting so the majority of the people who attend these meetings can find out as soon as these rules pass rather than individually when they enter a server. I feel this can lower the amount of arguing amongst clan members who have heard different rules at different times.

These are just some of my concerns and ideas to help solve some of the problems, I have no intention of insulting, blaming or offending anyone who may be involved, and if these problems are being dealt with, then I apologize for my ignorance. Should any help be needed with any of these issues I have mentioned, or any other issues, I am always willing to help within the best of my abilities.

Most of the offenders don't check the forums, you should go in JB and just straight up tell this to people who fuck around. That's what this clan needs, some discipline. People need to know that they can't fuck around and get away with shit like they do.

Not to step on your toes Satan, I agree 100% with what you've said. It's an open and close issue, people should just learn to treat others properly or get off the internet. There's too many posts like this being made that aren't making a difference because the people who should see them don't.

- While I did make notes for any would-be offenders, the objective of my post was to bring the negative effects caused by the leniency in discipline to light. It is my belief that if the disciplinary methods were more organized, then the level of offenses will decrease; without the fear of consequence, people become overconfident in making unethical decisions. This was a suggestion, directed towards those who are looking to solve the issues within the clan.

I think we have talked about this in teamspeak before Satan, but i would probably be better if it was brought up in forums.
in regards to admin abuse, to prevent future admins for taking advantage of the power they are given, we could possibly implement a trial period.
when someone earns the privilege of admin, regardless of server, we could have a period of time where that admin is monitored on his judgement for use of power. then (possibly next clan meeting after beginning this trial) staff, advisors, veterans and other established members who understand what it means to have admin would vote on whether or not the person had proven himself able of holding an admin position.
just a thought.

It's unfortunate to say, but I believe that most people say they are willing to take this form of action, while their actions imply something entirely different.

So, yes, I agree with Socash, monitoring the admins for a short period of time would be the wisest choice. However, I know that this can take much time and effort out of the people needed to oversee his "power usage" and many admins will only commit acts of abuse when no other witnesses are around, aside from members and players.

So, it is my suggestion that while you gather the opinion of all the said staff/leader/elite opinions, perhaps pick a few random trusted members to give their input on the actions of the admin.

Again, just a suggestion...
