Is housing that expensive in Canada? Thought you guys had decent housing at least compared to the US

(hopefully). And where I’m working this upcoming couple months they offer housing for $400 a month down in LA which is great and cheap but then once I settle in LA after that job
(being temporary) looking for rent possibilities is gunna be killer being rent comes around to $1000 - $2000 for 500sqft to 700sqft if you’re lucky
