The rule I'm concerned about is "No advertising other clans". Now, the rule itself is pretty clear. But, I've seen other admins telling players to take websites out of their name even when the website has nothing to do with a clan. So, as admins how are we supposed to enforce a rule that isn't even listed and people have no clue about? If the website is advertising a clan, I agree it should be taken out of their name. But, if it's advertising skins, items, etc for CS:GO and other games, there's not a big deal about it. Until a rule is posted about this, I will not tell people to take a website out of their name unless it is affiliated with a clan. Now, I have gotten responses from other admins saying that they don't want to look up a website they know nothing about to see if it's affiliated with another clan or not. So, they tell them to take the website out anyways. That being said, We're enforcing rules that aren't listed among the written rules of the servers meaning people don't know about them and should be allowed to refuse the admin telling them to take a website out if it's not affiliated with a clan.

Since the rule is specific (for now) it means we can only punish those advertising clans, if the rule were "No Advertising" instead, then you would take action on them. But, as of right now, those idiots wasting their money on gambling on CS:GO sites just brand themselves in the server and that's about it.

I personally am one who tells people to take websites out of their names as half the time they are phishing websites (caught 7 to date) and we don't really want that shit exposed in our servers correct?

Edit: half the time people just push two and don't actually read the rules... although this isn't in there I propose it's added relatively quickly?

Phishing is definitely different from the generic csgo gambling spam and should absolutely be removed.

Why isn't advertising considered advertising?
like if i were to advertise for a gambling site for cs go or for a clan on css.. in both cases u can always lead them back to clans affiliated with the site. So why not make it straight up no advertising?

i have been telling every person with a website in his name to remove it since it is advertising. Honestly it should just not be allowed.

it is the same thing as if a person would join the servers and spammed " check out our server ip:....."
it is "recruiting" people for theire group, and group can be considered community and clan. So in that way they are advertising a clan wich is not allowed. Am i correct?

As of right now, we don't have a rule against general advertisements. I agree this should be a rule, but since we don't enforce rules we don't have, we don't punish people for gambling and wasting their own money.


Steam groups aren't the same as a clan. These gambling sites pop up and die off sooner than you can launch CS. They aren't any clan, it's a cash grab for people desperate for money. They are advertising, just not for a clan. We should definitely think about rewording the current rule.

So this is the official position then? Because I'm hearing different things from different staff members.

We don't enforce rules we don't have. Clan Advertising is the current rule. I agree I would rather have a flat no advertising policy but this is the current rule, until/unless it is changed.
