Wait wait... Green Day never really survived Punk. They came along when the political issues that formed Punk didn't exist. Punk was formed by people who were fed up of Maggie Thatcher and the disco synthpop revolution that had overtaken charts. There's a huge difference between London Calling and Dookie. Also, what about The Clash? They DEFINITELY survived Punk. Y'all should check out Gallows.

I'll add a few to the list of artists/bands that people should check out: The Black Keys, Foals and Frank Ocean.

Green Day tried way too hard to be punk. If you want some good punk bands, I suggest Gorilla Biscuits, Youth Of Today, and Agnostic Front

The one band I'm jamming out to now is "The Strokes". I fucking love their sound, but it's too bad their albums got worse as they caught more attention. Here's some great songs by them:
