So I write alot, and I think I'm pretty shit but I saw this and as a rapper/singer that really enjoys writing I thought I'd post this small thing I wrote in 2 minutes freeverse.

Big Boy Lullaby

Our tongue tied lullabies of words we left behind
Turned into a song that was left unfinished
Because we just couldn't find
The last word to show how hard it was to let it all go.
If you knew how good you made me feel,
you'd second guess your worried thoughts.
But I am broken beyond destruction,
And you are my compensation for nightly poetry.
So I'll settle like the ocean
And ride the tides like a seashell
In hopes that one day I'll be kept with love
Rather kept as a collection with others who ended in your hands.
When I'm alone at night,
and when the moon's at its brightest,
I remember how I use to compare you to the stars.
Now I spend my mornings comparing you to the shots I take
Until I'm collapsed on my bathroom floor.
I drink until I start writing
And alcohol is the cliche poet
He only writes about himself,
Because nothing makes him feel worse.
You were the light in my alleyway
When I was too drunk and
Anxious to let others know
And I needed a shortcut to my own heart.
Reciting words of love songs just to
compare them to our relationship
And realizing the only thing we had
was the idea of it.
Restless, but I sleep for days
Or at least that's what it feels like when
You've left me on hold
And our goodbyes was dial tone.
I'm terribly sorry for what I've done
I've realized revenge is pathetic
But you took the climax of my self esteem
And it was time to believe in myself again.
Confronting my self conscious
because I can't believe it let me down to
let me think you've broke my spirit
and I was lost for your reassurance.
