I would love surf_greatriver_xdre4m with no fall damage and a nospread bullet system so you can noscope mid air with AWP.

It's a Vanilla (no RPG or DM) server right? In that case we should only spawn with pistols (glock or USP, imo) and not any other guns.

I used to play quite a bit of surf, and really enjoy the none death-match in it.
Greatriver and it's variants are great.
I'll take a look and see, but you DEFINITELY need surf_ny_bigloop_2008, it's just a fantastic map for the game mode you are going for. Small enough to keep rounds going, but big enough to get some speed. Good weapons to play around with.

I'll take a look at more maps that I think work well for the game mode (there's a few others that are nice to play in this game mode).

Oh yea and Surf_Buckwild is another great one for none RPG/DM surf servers. Good weapons on the map, and it flows well.

I would implement a timer plugin, same as BHOP. It gives an extra thing for people to work towards. I'd talk with Ryan and get the idea from him. Also, maybe take out all the DM/RPG maps and just get regular vanilla ones.

Yea, a timer is key.
Maybe like 5 minutes at most, otherwise people will just try and surf around and waste time.
Maybe a "1v1 knife" plugin, where if there are two people alive they can iniate a "knife fight" where you can accept or decline. If you accept, it teles you to the center of the map (or to each other) to have a knife fight. I'm sure there are some around, or we can get the code monkeys to write one up (could even just have it beacon both people).

It's not vanilla surf if it has respawn or a timer... that would be DM and / or skill surf, which I believe it is NOT going to be.
If you're going for vanilla, no respawn, then a timer for fastest really doesn't mean anything, because you're gonna have different surf maps for those. It'll also cause frustration with people wanting to play vanilla surf, when you get bozos complaining about getting killed while trying to get good times :/

Like the two maps I listed above just loop around with teleporters and such, so a timer wouldn't do anything, as there is no end. Vanilla surf is about finding a gun, and killing people with it. Getting wicked backstabs and what not.

Respawn is ok, but I like having it like regular counter strike where you gotta kill the whole enemy team. If you have respawn, you might as well make it DM because eventaully every gun will be lost and only some people will have them, making it unfair.

Also, you need no-block. That is key.

Ignore the maps I provided then (and suggestions), they will suck for that game mode.

If it's DM you want the maps with Jails, I know a bunch I'll look into the good ones.

And I guess some skill surf maps wouldn't be bad, you can always vote off of them, and most have built in mechanics to not let people kill eachother. +1 to GoldGames suggestion then.

God I hate Surf DM...

CharlieKelly has a point, timers are intended for skill surf/bhop/etc. You can still put it on, obviously, but on maps like great river it's kinda pointless anyway (no real end).

Also I would make sure to not put skill surf maps on the server, as they don't give guns and just aren't made to fight on. (It is a combat surf server.)
