If you watch the news, you probably have been told that there has been 18 school shootings in the U.S. this year already. Well you have been told wrong.

So where are these stats coming from? They are coming from an organization called "Everytown" According to Everytown there have been 18 school shootings but here is their criteria:

1) A shooting heard from a campus
2) A bullet hit somewhere on a campus

According to this criteria no one has to be hurt and the shooting can take place off of a school campus. Here are a few instances that count has a school shootings according to "Everytown".

1) A military Veteran that had PTSD and committed suicide after shortly calling the police. There were no children or school staff at the scene when this happened. No one was injured

2) A criminal justice student had mistaken a real firearm for a practice dummy and practiced aiming the weapon at the wall, and accidentally shot the weapon off where the bullet hit the wall. No one was injured

3) A third grader sat next to a police officer on a bench, and the third grader pulled the trigger on the gun. The gun fired into the floor. No one was injured.

4) "A gun was fired from off campus and struck a campus building"

These are a few examples of what "Everytown" calls a school shooting. In these 18 so called "School Shooting", 8 of them had no one injured, 2 were suicides. How can we fix the problem when we are being given fake stats? Yes there is a problem and it does need to be solved, but we can't move forward if we are moving backwards. Remember the news you watch on T.V. is "FAKE NEWS" the will use any information to mislead you to get their ratings up.

The news likes attention more than telling the truth. The more attention they get then the more money they make.

Fake news is everywhere. More people are becoming aware of this every day, it's why the lamestream media ratings and viewer count has been plummeting.

The good news though is that the narrative of the left is becoming so encompassing that it's getting very easy to predict whether or not an article has bias. The easier it is to see markers, the more people will think that it's "fake".

Thank you for posting this. I've been hearing this statistic from a few people and wondering where the hell it came from. Seemed like an exaggeration, and well it turned out to be.

I think the news glorifies the shooter, even if they dont mean to.. inspiring other sickened individuals to follow in their footsteps for some quick fame on the news.

Some want to go down in history as the baddest boi out there. The news definitely adds to it. I mean fuck, we have a fucking leaderboard for all of the acts of violence that have resulted in deaths. These guys are put on display and are listed under game titles or genres like Microsoft Flight Simulator or Sid Meier's Civilization. https://encyclopediadramatica.rs/High_Score

If you ask me, I feel like the internet helps these people as well. It makes people question things like religion. I'm not religious but I feel like religion helps teach some important morals. If people do not value life and were never taught morals, then they believe that they can take someone's life and be fine with it.

There have been 11 incidents so far in 2018 involving school campuses and firearms (including air guns, etc).

5 of those incidents involved a gun discharge where nobody was hurt (ie window got shot out at cal state randomly in san bernadino)
1 involved a student firing a gun accidentally
2 were suicides
3 were a school shooter intentionally targeting students/staff/etc
The number of kids killed in school between 2013-2014 by guns is 12. Between 1992-93, 34 kids were killed in schools. Between 2000-06 there were 16 active shooter incidents in schools. Between 2007-13 there were 23 active shooter incidents in schools.

The number of incidents involving firearms on school campuses is increasing, but the body count from these events is decreasing.

As true as that statement is, and nobody would argue against 2 being too many, context is important. I would like to point out that according to the National Center for Education Statistics, there are 139,126 schools in the country. That means that 0.000014375% of schools have had a legitimate shooting occur.

Just a neat passage I found interesting. Not that I particularly agree or disagree w/ everything said. Was also a month ago, so some of which is missing a few pinpoints.

hear gunshots =/= school shooting

http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin/sta ... r-2018-an/

My main concern, is the fact that there are now journalists just adding onto these shootings. At least it feels like. Every other site I've read there's a different list of the 18 school shootings w/ different context.
To all the the ladies, peace, and humptiness.
