My news article for this week is a little more unorthodox than what's usually done but is something I've had people come to me with quite a bit lately. This my fellow EgN & forum members has to do with jailbreak.

As we all know jailbreak is one of our most popular servers with an average of 15 players on throughout the day. This is compared to minigames which averages out at six daily, and other servers that we haven't really been trying to populate. In our most recent admin meeting some rules were changed based on six hours of deliberation between staff, advisors, admin, and our leader Kharn. Many well know that the rule about warnings has created quite a bit of drama and tension. Something that is yes, being revised.

Based upon the controversy surrounding that rule something else has been brought to my attention.... EgN members of all ranks have started to dwindle on their play time; something I myself am guilty of. This clan, to many as well as myself, has become a second family and I feel very strongly about making sure that problems are known. This issue is something that has been brought up by many disgruntled players which encourages the fact that it be brought up.

Counterstrike is the main game our clan is based on and is how we get our members. This implies that it is the most important especially considering that CSS has died quite a bit since the introduction of CS:GO. Attendance in jb or any of the servers is obviously not expected to be a 24/7 thing. Also there are many different factors that have to be taken into account when it comes to EgN members partaking in game-play. This is something that was beautifully brought up by admin and Elite member Sunny when asked for her opinion.

Multiple points are brought up in the above, in defense of why everything has slowed down. Yes jobs, school, and life in general definitely take precendence over games. But, in my opinion when you join a clan you need to take into account that you've made a committment. This committment, especially when you start to rise in ranks is like having a job. Of course you can not be expected to take it seriously all of the time as everyone wants to have fun. However, when the members of the clan barely play on the server it starts to make people question. If the members of this clan don't play on this server why should I? Is this server worth my time?

I asked newly appointed Staff member Needy "What do you think of EgN members playtime in the server since these new rules were invoked?"

"EgN-S| Needy: I would definitely like to see more of our admins on servers, jailbreak, especially with these new rules set in place to help both clarify and enforce them; meanwhile, it may even help with the confusion of the warning rule."

To get an even fresher perspective on things I went to non-member and server regular Dinkleswerve with the question "What do you think of the admins in regards to how active they are?" Below is his reply in which he says something none of us can deny.

"There's always at least 1 admin on, which helps moderate the server a lot. My only complaint is that admins all have their own rules. Some are more touchy than others and they all seem to interprete things differently, etc."

As the admins who keep up on forums know, we are currently working on an idea to help with a lot of the confusion surrounding rules and how they are interpreted. If we work on this I truly believe it will help to get jailbreak to become a bit tamer. Taming the crowd will make the toxicity lessen and the game-play better for everyone involved. We're a team and we need to act like one. Playing on the servers or even just making sure one of us is available on steam that can contact an admin in someway to help. These are small steps that EVERYONE can contribute to in an effort at keeping our community successful.

My activity recently has also dropped due to work but I am able to come on in my personal time at home.

Now for the admin quantity in Jailbreak issue. My view of this is that it's not fully reliable for admins to monitor and "administrate" the server. Yes, as much as it is really good to have active admins online, I just feel as if people rely too much on us admins.

Like for instance, an EgN non-admin is on the server, and the only admin is AFK. Someone asks for clarification on the rule, EgN members tend to say something like "Idk ask admins or Staff+".

Non-admins, you can also help 'administrate' the server too, although you do not have admin privileges, it does not stop you from clarifying rules. If you understand the rule he wants clarifying, clarify it for him. If the confused individual is still confused, then yes refer him/her to an admin/Staff+.

This gives more of a better represntation for EgN because it shows that our members know the clan and its rules, so they can generate an impression on you. If you are sorry I don't know this rule and that's all, they're gonna think "This guy knows nothing, what an idiot. Perhaps all the other members are like that too". I've had situations where something like this has happened, and it's not good for people's impression on us as a community.

They would expect a rule clarification, or you to say "Sorry but I an unfamiliar with what this rule actually means, let me get in conctact with an admin/higherup and see if we can get this rule clarified for you".

Many people just rely on admins but you can help too. Don't be afraid to ask or handle a situation you think you can handle. Have a mindset of "I can do this".

I don't really think the quantity of admins on our servers has really an impact. Although it is nice to have a few on but members, don't be afraid like I said to handle somethings kn your own, if it really needs an admin or Staff+, then get one.

Good article Bri! My only comment is that I see a lot of the times some admins are on and just there to find someone to ban. I honestly don't know how some of you all find any joy in playing jb if all you are out to do is ban someone. Maybe that's why in your article you say that most admins don't stay on because of the toxicity. I try my best to use my admin to correct mistakes in the hopes that everyone can have fun because honestly that is what we are all here for are we not?
