Self-driving cars programmed to decide who dies in a crash
This is a very important question.
Should the
self-
driving car protect the driver at all costs or should sacrifice the driver in order to save others.
This is similar to the Trolley problem in which a trolley is going down a track and 5 people are tied to the track, but you can divert the trolley down another track and only kill one person.

Christoph von Hugo said that the carmaker’s future autonomous cars will save the car’s driver and passengers, even if that means sacrificing the lives of pedestrians, in a situation where those are the only two options.
Christoph von Hugo caught a lot of hate for this statement. He later said that this was just his answer to the "Trolley problem."
This issue today even remains unaddressed through legislation and there are no regulations about it.
I for one will not buy a
self-
driving car that willingly sacrifices the driver.
What do you think about this?
