British pop star, George Micheal passed away peacefully this Christmas season according to Britians Press Association. Micheal shot to fame with his 1980 duo Wham! and was only 53 years old when he died.

PA quoted a statement from Michael’s publicist that said: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.”

Wham! was one of his top favorited works with hits such as "Wake Me Up, Before You Go-Go" and "Careless Whisperer". His 1987 debut album "Faith" sold nearly over 10 million copies.

Micheal, whose real name is Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, will be missed by numbers of fans, family and friends.
