So if you think its totally okay to call someone "retarded" but you hate when people call you or others "autistic", then you are basically saying "I dont like it when you shoot someone when I just shot someone." Pretty stupid huh?
So I think you all need to re-evaluate what you say and do. If you dont like being called a retard, dont call others names. Because "Its rather all okay, or none of its okay." You rather accept all the names being called, or dont call anyone names, because your being hypocritical when you call someone a dirty spic, but get offended when someone calls you a stupid nigger. (Using those offensive words in an educational sense.)
So just remember that for next time.
I can get behind this initiative. I constantly hear spouting how no one should even say "nigger", but then I get on TS and I hear the same people calling each other dykes and Jews. Personally I think it should be all okay WITHIN REASON (context is key folks, someone who uses the word "nigger" as a joke or in a sarcastic manner should not be punished in the same vein as people who say something along the lines of "All niggers must die"). I think we shouldn't focus on specific words being said themselves but rather the context in which they are being said. Lets take the original topic of the post in which other people were calling each other "autistic" as a joke. This is a difficult one because based on the context of this situation it is clear that it was a joke, but at the same time the joke applies a negative connotation to autistic people. There really isn't a clear and cut way to deal with situations like this but the two extremes, total free speech and an outright ban on these words, are not the right solutions. If EgN wants to survive as a community they need to find a good middle ground. I think it would be best to take an approach where it would be discouraged on public servers but it really shouldn't be as harshly punished as it is now.
