So, this has been a question I’ve had for a while. Why don’t we have a bot that records demos, and uploads them so we can see them and not have to worry about not having them for reports and such? I know that clans like GFL have them, so why don’t we? This question became more important to me after Cooper’s report on an MFK. If we had a demo recorder bot, we wouldn’t have the problem the ban report has. If there is a specific reason for there not being a demo bot, then I’d understand.

i think it's just because of the huge amount f memory it will take or however its called.
like imagine all the demo's it will have, and also if u delete it all its gone and no proof anymore?
idk exactly but seems like a huge "adding" aswell as why cant u just make your own demos?
not that hard, just record "name" and stop when u got it all or just screenshot, that is ok for most things

dont really see the use tbh

It is kinda stupid that a recording that shows exactly what happened, no doubt atall isn't evidence enough... when you can see it clearly with your own eyes (Cooper's report) that the person did actually mfk 14 people. Shouldn't be that hard to ban him for that... (Also has a previous MFK ban)

It is possible to set up a bot to autorecord a demo of each map and save it to the fastdl. Just have demos automatically be purged if they are older than x amount of hours or set a limit on how many can be saved at once. Usually people are going to use the demo relatively close to when the offense occurred so deleting demos 2 or 3 days old shouldnt really cause a problem. This set up worked very well back in NsG using GOTV I believe, the only difference was that we were using it for CSGO rather than CSS but I am certain there is a way to do it for source.

Or to save the hassle of setting this up just allow external recordings to be used, if someone posts a video that is unclear or seemingly edited to paint someone in a bad light then treat it the same as a demo with insufficient evidence and deny the request.

I do understand the concept but we already have it or somewhat similar = SourceTV

+1

It's just not available to anyone but the people who have access to the server.

Correct - And we're not going to watch a 3 hour long demo for 1 MFK. (Which is incredibly common because it records per map i.e Razor)

That's why timestamps are important. "It happened at 3:06PM - GMT-6" Rather than "Idk it was like 5 I think when it happened"

The thing with this is that if said person did mfk 14 people thats enough time to start a demo and catch at least some of the incident. Other forms of evidence such as youtube videos are not allowed specifically because they are easily tampered with. What if its someone you specifically don't like? Theres no evidence that you wouldnt intentionally try to get them banned by making a video of them "mfking". I don't know thats how I see it anyway.

It's a format EgN sticks to to do exactly that. Yeah sure that /could/ be taken as evidence. But then we have reports like that where people can say "Well X made a report with Y evidence why can't I" and this report now could have misleading evidence.

Demos are what we use. Plus we don't have control over a youtube video (if someone doesn't make it unlisted, now we have videos of people just MFKing on our servers circulating YouTube which isn't the best publicity)
