So a bit of an inside joke started circulating last night when player Ausskothar began attaching "ten cents paypal" to various outlandish requests. A few players and I picked it up and had a good giggle. Imagine giving someone pennies of virtual money to perform ridiculous stunts. All good fun, right? Some discussion cropped up shortly after about creating a group for the joke. Next map loads and all of a sudden I'm kicked twice, being told 'remove your clan tag'. I do so, changing my clan tag in CSS's multiplayer options to the default blank, and then rejoining the server. I'm immediately banned for five minutes by Spooky. Apparently what he meant by clan tag was to remove the joke from my entire name, 'Fren Cents Paypal' at at the time. Regardless of the technicalities, I came back later with the joke removed and began asking what rule I had broken. No answer for a few minutes. Kept asking and asking but all I got were some vague responses from Cherry and Spooky like: "Don't be an asshole," "Don't talk back to admins," "Go take it up with Dyno, I'm just following orders." I couldn't get a straight answer out of them as to WHY I was being reprimanded, but apparently I was breaking more rules by being persistent, so I gave it a rest. Next day I log in with 'Fren Cents Paypal' again thinking it must have been a misunderstanding, but get kicked by someone being told 'change your name or be banned.' I can't figure out why, in such a short time span, it became a bannable offense, so I'm here on the forums. I don't know where else to put this thread, so bear with me as it happened on Jailbreak alone. Please help me work this out. I don't like being on bad terms, but it's just a gag we were tossing around, so I really don't see the issue. |

In regards to this, this started and turned into a thing which started turning into spam, the main reason you were banned in regards to this and why it was a banable offense is the admins were trying to keep the peace, and asked you and the others involved to change your name back to normal. The ban reason would have been trolling/ignoring admins, as it was starting to become spammy in regards to this little "Joke" circulating. Simple, just listen to the admins and move forward. This particular situation, was as far as i'm aware in reference to one of the players that was previously on the server which turned to harrasment and targetting that one player individually.. which we stopped. Hope that clears some stuff up? |

I'm unaware of any harassment or targeting of one individual. Who are you referring to? I certainly didn't target anyone, and I can't even figure out how the joke could be used that way. I don't see how it was spam either, it was not spoken about very often. People would chuckle and then move on to something else. Maybe it'd be heard again next round or two, maybe not? Like...it was such a tiny thing, infrequent. It's nothing like when people come on and start yelling 'gucci gang' or just straight up scream into a mic. Nobody was using the joke to talk over anyone or disrupt the flow of the Jailbreak round, if that's even possible. Most of the time the joke was brought up during idle periods on wardays in reaction to ordinary derping around the map, and as far as I'm aware of it wasn't used to create confusion or mass rebellion, but I'd like to hear what Spooky has to say tomorrow. |

Well in regards, that is what we were trying to avoid in all reality. The same mentality of the other group that did disrupt, and it was reported to me in regards to that, however if you state that it was mis-information that I had received then fine keep the joke going, however in the views of the admins, it was the same mentality this group was forming that was starting to present itself like the previous group and we were just trying to put a stop to it. |

Thanks, I think I understand now. Since clan tags appear concatenated when hovering over a player, I can see how a group of four or higher with an identical full word prefix like 'gucci gang' or 'tencpaypal' can make it difficult for CTs to identify and call out prisoners compared to a few initials like 'EGN' or an honorific like 'Admin'. I don't care for the group or tag prefix, but I'm getting the impression someone didn't happen to like the joke and may have blown their description of the situation out of proportion, a bit. Regardless, perhaps an addendum to the rules should be suggested. "Don't be an asshole." seems like a vague enough category for this kind of confusion to spring up. |
