Rap isn't dead neither is it ruined. Maybe you're still stuck in a nineties mentality with Jay-Z & Wu-Tang, but almost every genre of music has changed since the 2000's. Look at rock, artists like Linkin Park, Coldplay, or Foo Fighters, and bands that were on MTV, have all been pushed down to 2000's classic rock where pop-rock artists have taken place of the rock genre like Imagine Dragons & Twenty One Pilots (somehow Panic At The Disco! is still up there from 2005) or like Bad Wolves (which is a grade A band by the way). Listen to their style of rock compared to the style of rock in the 2000's. Then compare all that to actual classic rock in the 80's & 90's.

There's Pink Floyd & Nirvanna, then there was a shift to bands like Fall Out Boy and now we're at the duo of 21 Pilots, and Imagine Dragons. Every genre's going to shift.

It subjective to say that this style of rap has ruined the genre, but from someone who never liked rap from early 00's to 2010 and wasn't listening to so called mumble rap just about a year ago I absolutely fucking love it. I still listened to artists like Gambino, Chance The Rapper, Post Malone, Kanye West, BROCKHAMPTON, Mac Miller, and Tyler, The Creator then but never listened to artists like Lil uzi, Lil Yatchy, or Mosey until Lil Peep died, and way way more when XXX died. Now I would say I listen to that style of music almost everyday compared to what I use to listen to. Listen to Juice Wrld and XXX though, they the real ones who got me into the genre.

But it's innovation, easy said as that. If you sound exactly like everyone else, then you're just playing the same thing as them.

Once someone goes out of their way to sound different from those who are at the top of the charts, they become and create their own sub-genre which rises their popularity. People like new. Just like how fashion, technology, and film have all changed overtime, and music is one of them—which includes this style of rap. Genres don't die. They just morph with other artists, come together, and then break apart all over again to fit society's conformity. We ain't listening to gansta rap no more, and would suggest you get with the times & appreciate how it's become.

Damn, Needy you put a lot of effort in that so i respect that although i would mainly consider it personal preference. Not much rap nowadays to me has been the same and im not saying that because were in the 2000's either... In fact i didn't even really like any of the rap before the 2000's It's just these past few years in this century i don't like that much rap anymore.
