Post subject:  Australia has done it!

After 2 months and $122 million, the voluntary postal vote that the Australian Government gave out to the Australian voters, has finally come back as a YES. This Postal vote asked a simple question;
Quote:
Should the law be changed to allow same-sex couples to marry.

This discussion has been ongoing for years on end, until finally the government decided to let the Australian voters to have their say, by handing out a plebiscite.

Throughout the two months there has been many fights and signs of harassment/assault from both yes and no voters. We have seen a division in the Australian community and in some cases there has been some physical violence because of a disagreement in opinion, one of the most prominent cases of this happening was against the the "No" voters in the Sydney of University. A link to the article and the video can be seen below, (Offensive language is used).

Now that is not to say that "No" voters did not do the same to "Yes" voters, but that was one of the most prominent news stories recently, there has been cases of homosexual people not allowed in certain churches because of their sexuality, this means that the churches were discriminative against one's sexuality. Both sides have been called many names and really everyone was at each others throats.

But finally after 2 months the plebiscite has come back as a yes with:
Quote:
61.6 per cent of eligible Aussies - or more than seven million people - have voted Yes in the postal survey.
and 38.4 per cent of Australians voting no.

This doesn't determine that a new legislation will be implemented immediately, but the country's prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has stated that he will implement the new legislation allowing same sex marriage by the Christmas this year.

So overall, same sex couples are likely going to be able to be able to marry by the end of the year!

This is your Aussie Mate from down under signing off.

Tony Abbot claimed a 40% "No" vote would be a "moral victory" and he couldn't even get that. The asshole lost twice ahahahaha

I know it's almost like it's easy to confuse his post with a Hillary campaign slogan considering its word for word
