So I want to start playing more games on PC. I know alot about software, but I don't really know too much about hardware.

I want to upgrade my mobo and CPU, but I need to know if the components will be viable upgrades for my computer & if I'll need a heatsink fan and if I will even be able to fit it in my comp?

I already know which products I want, but if someone is good at building gaming PC's, a PM through Steam would be greatly appreciated.

So just type LGA [insert motherboard / cpu here] and see if the numbers are the same. With CPUs the only compatibility you need to worry about is the number and distribution of pins.

Or just go here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_socke ... _and_slots

The mobo and CPU that I want to purchase are compatible. Compatible with the RAM I already have, everything.

But the housing for my computer is small, it's an HP small form factor... I'm not sure how different mobos vary in size and need to know if i'll be able to fit a heatsink fan into my housing.
