myBB has an amazing reputation forum plugin... You can assign the level and amount of reputation distributed per day based on forum rank. For instance: Recruit/Forum Member: None or maybe just +1? Member: Neutral or +1 (once a day) Elite: -2, -1, neutral, +1, +2 (three times a day) Veteran: -3 ... to +3 Staff: -5 ... to +5 Advisor/Leader: -10 ... to +10 https://mybb.com/features/reputation/ ... just a way to drive traffic to the forum. |

From all the features that could be added, a user to user rating system doesn't have place here, imo. What would a high positive or negative score imply? And is that a message EgN wants to send? Does that correlate to something that is right in the eyes of EgN? Is it morally ok for people to truly rate each other with something that never goes away, especially in a small community? I can think of times where some people would have been hit with a flood of one sided ratings for very toxic reasons. & I'm quite sure Kharn would agree with me on this one. We shouldn't have this. Everyone gets along for the most part here, I doubt anyone would be negative in totality. And I know we don’t use myBB, this is just a plugin that I’ve used before. The forum doesn’t need to be a safe space, a little edginess would drive traffic. Sincerely, a person who studied marketing for 3 years. |

A lot of people already try to flex with ranks. Ranks already have caused jealousy in the past and anger. Not to mention it seems you want something like this for the attention. Then for the next few weeks brag about something else stupid. And what do you mean by “Drive traffic to the forums”? Your post doesn’t make sense on that part either. Lot of people have been around here longer than you and know that a system like this would cause more problems. EgN just needs people to play games and relax, not worry about some point system and create drama over it. |

There are more important things to worry about than getting to have a number by your name. People shouldn’t need a reputation to validate what they are saying and even if it doesn’t really mean anything it is prone to cause unecessary disputes and doesn’t really need to be on the forums at all. I know for a fact certain members in particular are already trying to bolster their ego via post count by shitposting and leaving unnecessary responses with no substance to them whenever they get the opportunity. The purposed system makes even less sense since people gain more points based off their rank, rather than the content of what they are saying. A simple upvote/downvote system would make the most sense if any at all, but even then it will just become a tool for members to sneakdiss one another and cause more issues than need be. What people are saying is 10000x more important than the number by their name, there is no reason to try to quantitize people’s “reputation” on the forums. |
