Your ego goes up just because you got number one on game tracker when I’ve seen countless people get there as well. Not trying to be mean but you seem to brag a lot about things in a gaming community on the internet. So it’s hard not to believe that you want this so you feel like you’re better or something than other people. Just seems like you’re around here for the credit you feel you deserve, when really you should just play the game and enjoy the community.

I'm on another forum that has a Like system in place. It's not inherently designed to present an even playing field so don't go adding negative rep or a Dislike function, who wants that kind of negative energy anyway?

But having the ability to show appreciation for the better quality content, having the chance to give moral support without having the need to make a post sounds neat to me. It stops those spam "+1" or "seconded" posts. I can't see how a Like system would create problems nyself. I think it'd actually encourage more positive interactions between your members. Just my two cents.
