Loving Vincent - Composed of 65,000 frames hand-painted by 100+ artists, Loving Vincent tells the story of the life and death of legendary Post-Impression artist Vincent Van Gogh; as told through the masculine, almost brutish yet perceptive Armand Roulin, the son of Joseph Roulin, a postmaster that Vincent befriended and later, painted in portrait. Though aesthetically marvellous and an accomplishment in the art of film making (or rather, an intentional feat of slow film making), I was left feeling underwhelmed, though of course touched, by the film's story. As a tribute to an artist of tragedy befallen by maladies, Loving Vincent is a heart-tugging and fitting testament to the Dutch artist's legacy but not a film of absolute brilliance in the conventional sense. 8/10

Just watched Aquaman, didn't realize it was 2.5 hours long but so worth it. Great movie.

Ralph Breaks The Internet - Struggles from a lack of focus on the sub-plots, particularly the friendship between Shank (voiced with great gusto by the marvellous Gal Gadot) and Vanellope, but is so full of heart at its core! I'm glad the kids in the cinema are learning friendship from Ralph and Vanellope, their companionship is infectious. They tell us that friendship is being there for each other and always trying your best but being truly dependent on somebody else can lead to insecurity and the accompanying selfishness is not healthy for either of you. Though the commercialism and the product placement of the "internet" might discourage some, I found it to be faithful and, in places, even amusing. A worthy successor? Sure. But it will certainly date faster than its timeless prequel. Twenty years from now, fans of animated movies will recall how much of a classic the wonderful Wreck-It Ralph is. I feel that Ralph Breaks The Internet will never be in such a conversation. 7/10

Mid90s

Even though didn't grow in the 90s (obviously) hella fukkin cool film to show it when the world was more gritty and raw before everyone became more absorbed by technology, and it's the time where films, music, and video games were booming and became top-notch classics. Neither were people so sensitive (cause let's be honest, we all are now, much more than before). The color grading and style were on point all the way through, really liked the retro / VHS style with the boxed-like-frame. As well the hair / clothes, skateboard culture, and the attitude! Besides that, I don't necessarily live to give a film a number rating but it's definitely a recommended film by me.

Definitely, a trip for some people who don't know the 90's (like myself but I least I know what it was). Jonah Hill did an A1 job for his first film.

My cousin still skates today and makes videos practically identical to this style, pretty sick though

Bad Times At The El Royale

Just watched it a few days ago. Great film to end off 2018. Fantastic film. Very well written with an incredibly strong plot along with solid actors / characters. Talk about Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Dakota Jhonson, Chris Hemsworth, and Jeff Bridges. Also, whoever, Miles or Lewis Pullman, did an AMAZING job acting. Would be nice to see him in further films. The soundtrack was also very on point throughout the entire film, sped up the process of the film per well. Drew Goddard doesn't cease to fail. Most definitely one of the most underrated films in 2018 along with Mid90s. Almost reminds me a lot of the Murder on the Orient Express with the style of the film (great film as well).

Would recommend in a heartbeat. Go check it out.

I haven't seen Bad Times At The El Royale or Mid90's but both got hella praise similar to that you've reaped on both. Will watch them both for sure.

Aquaman - An ambitious, brave and strong origin story (?) set within a colourful array of computer-generated underwater worlds. I'm glad they've stopped trying to recreate the magic of Christopher Nolan's hella dark Batman trilogy and instead tried for something more balanced. I just wished the film would slow down more and give the viewer a chance to process what they've witnessed. Unrelenting fast pace and lots of fun to watch although hardly the epic it aims to be. 7/10
