hey so as you can see in the title I am 15 years old and i'm thinking of getting a tattoo. now before you comment that i'm too young, it's for my medical condition ( im not gonna tell you it but if i'm by myself and something bad happens and they medics down know I have this condition I would prob die). I know, I know I should just wear a medical id bracelet or something but I don't like those and when I play my sports I have to take jewelry off and I end up forgetting about it. my point is both my parents are down for me getting a tattoo when I turn 16 for this medical condition but I kinda want it to happen this summer. idk what to really say to them to try and let me have it this summer, idk how to bring it up and if I wait until im 16 it's going to be until next june. idk if u guys can help me out or not or what u can say. i'm just saying this to let it out there for any advice you could give me. ( Also if you really are interested in what i have you can just steam msg me, i wont mind, i don't really care i just didn't want it on the "main internet".) |

just bring it up and tell them you want it earlier but at the same time, you should take the time to think about it to make sure this is something you really want to go with. if you do play a lot of sports that would be a good way to bring it up with your parents especially since its a medical condition and you cant always wear a bracelet or necklace. just try explaining it to them the same thing you said on here to them. it's for a good reason and you can easily lose a bracelet at least with a tattoo you don't need to worry about warning anyone since they will see it. i just feel some people may judge you for being young with a tattoo just ask your parents what they think about you getting it early. |

This reminds me of how members of the Waffen-SS used to have their blood type tattooed on their arm near their armpit. It was so medics could identify the blood type they needed for a transfusion if the soldier they were tending to happened to be unresponsive. If your medical condition is blood-related or skin-related, I would consult a doctor first as there is a link between tattoo's and blood-related illnesses (infection, hepatitis etc) and you cannot donate blood for a period of time after a tattoo either. Your parents probably don't want you getting one until you're 16 because a professional tattooist likely won't touch you if you're under the legal age but otherwise, sure, your reason for wanting one sounds important and you appear to have made your mind up. |

I'd be careful around tattoos at that age. If your body grows any more, there's the obvious issue of tattoo stretching. But, for simpler designs, that may not be such an issue to you, though it is something you want to keep in mind. I'm sure there might even be a way to make the design with stretching and growth in mind. Just be open to your tattoo artist and I'm sure they can work it out with you. Otherwise, I'm sure you'd be able to find some good info about that online. Hell, your doctor might even tell you some good info about getting around that. As for the medical issues, I recommend keeping a note or something about it in your wallet, purse, whatever. If you're unable to tell them because you're unconscious and there's nobody there to tell them for you, they might look for a form of identification and any emergency information. It's a bit archaic, since not everyone has this information in their wallets anymore, but for a case like this, it's better than having no information. Alternatively, you can get an engraved dog tag for fairly cheap. Back at military exchanges we had little booths to get engraved dog tags for like $5. You can probably find a cheaper alternative online (or... not. It'd still be fairly cheap though). With it, you can put PII(Name, birthdate, and city/state of record) and important medical information, including your blood type and any important medical information a medic/EMT needs to know. In any case, best of luck, and do share the design! also rip me having 666 posts |

I would wait til your 18 and think about it a little more. At 14 I had my idea of what tattoo I wanted but I waited and thought about it more. Lol even though my parents wouldn’t of been mad if I got it before. |

As a dude with a tattoo I agree on holding off on it until 18 just because of all the shots you still have left to get. I will say maybe your parents will counter and say that they should stitch that info on all your clothes instead... |
