I don't think there's a set up promotion 'system' right now, so let me suggest one. Much like Recruits being voted in by the EgN community, I think that promotions should be voted upon by the community, not just 5-10 people. (Assuming that's how it works.) Just like voting in new members, the votes would happen every so often (The time is up for debate, didn't work that out.), or until a large enough group is eligible for promotion. The poll would be posted in the respective rank forum, and members of that rank would have 24 hours to decide on whether or not said members should get promoted. Members ----> Elites -Elite, a member showing their dedication by being active in the community, eligible for voting after 4 Months in the community. Elites ----> Veterans -Veterans, hardened members of the community. By showing their dedication, members of the Elite rank have shown their dedication and loyalty to the EgN Community for more than 6 months. Soooooooooooo yeah, feel free to tear this idea a new one, I don't care. B) tl:dr

The en-mass-voting is tbh a system we are trying to move away from. |

Basically a popularity vote Yes, but: Being promoted to a higher rank means you get "power"/immunity/other abilities over the ranks below you, thus meaning more responsibility. To handle this responsibility you need to be more mature. Often the most popular people aren't always the most mature ones, and may abuse this power, or just not being able to handle it. it's just safer that way. Popularity isn't always the best. |

I don't like it I don't like staff voting either. Staff deciding is also basically bias is voting and opionated like wtf. If you don't like the mass voting then how would promotions be decided cause you can still see improvement in anyone but staff+ can be bias and be like that's not enough, well in the past you did this, etc I don't like any of it |

The thing with the current promotion system that I see is while the Staff+ may have preferences, they truly look at "Hey, how involved are you in the community? Good job, have a promotion!" It's not like say... Droid says "hey, that Umreeca guy seems cool, I'm going to promote him, fuck you guys." The way I've always thought it went was all the staff sit in the channel and they go through a list of members and elites and they say "Do they seem like a potential candidate for a promotion?" and then they vote. Yes, getting along with the Staff+ helps with that, but that just further shows that you are getting involved in the community. Further more, if you just get involved with ONE Staff+, it's not gonna be good enough. You need to make friends with everyone. On the other hand, if all the Staff+ see you in channels with other members, they might be like "Yo, he's pretty involved..." TL;DR: It's a vote, not one staff says "promote this guy" and they immediately do it. They sit and they see if they have met the "requirements" to be promoted, then they vote, or that's the way I've thought it. People get promoted by getting involved and it's the Staff+'s decision. |
